A Note to the Reader: Purpose, Perspective & Walking with God
The insights on this site are written to name the hard realities we face and to point toward older, sturdier wisdom. They are not instruction manuals, step-by-step guides, or quick fixes for life’s deeper struggles.
Every person is different. Your circumstances, your makeup, and the particular weight you carry are not interchangeable with anyone else’s. A generic checklist cannot reach the places that matter most. Only God sees the whole of it—your heart, your exact situation, and what lies ahead. That is why these writings stop short of telling you precisely what to do.
I believe God has already given us what we need, but we have to work with Him. Life moves along two axes at once: vertical and horizontal. We need both.
The vertical relationship is with God Himself. Scripture is not a to-do list we finish and put away. It is a wellspring we hide in our hearts and return to, day after day. When we stay close to the Word, the Holy Spirit becomes our teacher and guide, speaking into the specific situation we are actually living. No article can supply that kind of direction.
The horizontal relationships are found among other believers. We were never meant to walk this path alone. A real community of people who share the same faith gives us a place to help one another, build one another up, encourage one another, and—when needed—hold one another accountable.
Walking with God does not mean every struggle disappears overnight. Sometimes the path still runs through difficult seasons; that is part of the mystery of His will. But connecting with Him and with others who are in the middle of the same kinds of struggles—or who have already been led through them—brings a deeper understanding of where you are and clearer sight for the next step. Even when answers are not immediate, there is still hope. The Word promises that He can work good out of all things for those who love Him.
Because I believe so strongly in the need for that horizontal connection, I would like to help create space for it. If enough of you express interest, my hope is to open a simple online gathering place—something like a dedicated Facebook group—where readers of this site can share current struggles, exchange testimonies of how God is leading, and support one another in prayer.
